Choosing an Enduro/Tourer motorbike help?
Question by Adrian: Choosing an Enduro/Tourer motorbike help?
Hi all, I want to know if someone could help me choose a motorbike. I dont know much about makes and models of the older bikes. I want to buy a Enduro/Tourer bike, between 400cc-650cc and around 2002-ish. I was looking at the Aprilia Pegaso 650. Looks good and is what I love and would like but I want to shop around more but I dont know any ofther makes like Yamaha, Honda, etc of other similar stype bikes to choose from. If someone could help me it would be great help.
Many Thanks,
Adrian
I live in Northern Ireland by the way, so it’s European bikes, not American.
Thanks

Other models in the same class:
Suzuki DR 650 single cylinder
BMW F650GS or Dakar single cylinder
Suzuki DL650 v-twin
Honda Africa Twin and Varadero v-twin
For touring a twin will be more suitable because it will be smoother but by all means consider the singles too. Many people use them for touring and travelling long distances.
Consider some luggage too. You’re likely to find a F650 or V-Strom with pannierstop box. There are many websites which will give you advice on what to check when buying.

There are quite a few in this genre. They are more popular in Europe and they also get a larger selection. These bikes are the North American selection.
Suzuki DL600, DRZ450/600
KTM 650/690,
Kawasaki KLR650/450 (which is a DRZ in green)
Honda XR650L, CBF600SA
Yamaha TransAlp
Ducati Hypermotard 750, Multistrada 600
Caponord
Good luck!
