Question by Jordan K: I have just bought an Aprilia RS125 2006 reg, it is my first bike, are there any tips you could give?
It is my first bike since my 50cc Sym Jet EURO 50.
I have never driven it, but i know how to drive it, i would like to know if there are any tips for leaning around corners, etc and for maintaining it.
Thanks

Never neglect the warming-up procedure and use the best 2-stroke oil you can afford.
The RS125 is renowned for being brilliant on corners, almost following where you are looking. That is one of the best tips for any motorcyclist – look right through the corner, observe where the curbs appear to meet – if that point is moving closer, the corner is tightening up and you might need to reduce your speed (by moving the throttle, do not brake as this will sit you up and the bike will want to go straight), if the point is moving away the corner is opening up and you should be able to accelerate.
Positioning, if you are approaching a lefthander, move out to the right, this will enable you to see further through the corner (and vice versa for a righthander), obviously do not move into a position where you are on the wrong side of the carriageway, but also do not position yourself so that your head, when leaned, is over the centre of the carriageway.
Get all your braking and gear changing done before you take the corner – and remember 2-strokes, like the RS125 have a narrow(ish) powerband, if you get out of that powerband you will find acceleration will suffer.
