Which motorcycle would you recommend for what I will use it for?
Question by zero_eden_delmo: Which motorcycle would you recommend for what I will use it for?
I am looking at the 2009 Aprilia 750 Shiver, 2009 Ducati 696, or 2009 Kawasaki Er-6n.
I am looking for a nice standard bike that I can use for just about everything from around town, long trips, or just long drives. It would meanly be for just a everyday driver but every now and then I would like a bike for my long trips.
I am going to put a $ 10,000 limit on the bike so keep that in mind.
You can recommend other bike’s but please state why you think it would be better than these three. Also I would still like some feedback on what you think about the three I picked.
Both the Aprilia and the Ducati look like they would only need the usually amount of maintenance. The Ducati really surprised me. The 2009 696 is using a slipper clutch. I guess even Ducati had to see they needed wet clutches. But it’s still air-cooled.
Both the Ducati and Aprilia cost the same $ 8,900 and the Kawasaki is $ 6,300 so its about $ 3,000 less.

Out of the 3 you picked I would choose the Kawasaki ER6R
The reason why is the Kawasaki is much more economical to own and maintain, its more reliable, less maintenance, smooth and quiet.
The Aprilia’s and Ducati’s are higher end bikes that require expensive maintenance, they have a noisy, lower quality engine, (dry clutch and gear noise)
The bike I would choose as a “Do Everything Bike” would be the Yamaha FZ6, this bike can be run as a commuter, touring, or a racing bike, it looks and sounds good, easy to ride, super reliable, cheap to own and maintain.
If you don’t like Yamaha, then I would choose the Suzuki SV650 (S) or the Kawasaki 650 Ninja or Versys ( both use the same engine)

Nooo, trust me on this one……………. Get the DUCATI ! ! I had a ducati for 6 years straight now…. Not a single problem with it….. All i had to pay for was basic maintenance such as oil change and that kinda stuff…. And its still lasting me good….. Also let me reccomend that you dont buy a 2009…. Its a big price difference in a 2008 and a 2009…. Beleive me get a 2008 and get a warranty on it for 1 year…. and you will save a lot…. I would reccomend you get a 2005 or better and you will save lot of money
